ALF & AYUFD Statement on condemnation the Israeli crimes in Palestine and refusing to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem
May 15, 2018
The Arab Liberal Federation (ALF) and the Arab Youth Union for Freedom and Democracy (AYUFD) condemn in all possible ways the massacre carried out by the Israeli occupation forces yesterday against the unarmed Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, which resulted in 61 martyrs and 2771 wounded, including serious wounds. Despite the fact that the marches of civilians inside Gaza Strip were peaceful in commemoration of the 1948 Palestinian Catastrophe (Nakba), demanding the right of return for the Palestinians who were displaced from their cities and villages, the Israeli occupation forces used the warplanes and shelled the northern Gaza Strip with three rockets and two missiles. This aggressive behavior is contrary to the UN Security Council Resolution 605 of 1987, in which the Security Council deplores Israeli practices that violate the human rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories and calls upon Israel to comply promptly and strictly with the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (Fourth Geneva Convention).
The Israeli massacre coincided with another crime on the same day and with an American cover. The United States of America moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city of Jerusalem and recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Zionist entity. President Trump has taken this step despite the opposition of Europe and all major powers and the United Nations to it, as it is against all international laws and resolutions, especially the last UN General Assembly Resolution of 21 December 2017, which calls on all not to change in the character, status or demographic structure of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and that any decision prejudicial to it is null and has no legal effect, noting that the US decision will push the Middle East towards more unrest, wars and instability.
On this black day on Jerusalem and Palestine and the entire Arab world from east to west, we call on the world's free people and their living forces to act urgently and intervene immediately to provide international protection for the Palestinian people, stop the bloody massacres committed by the brutal Israeli occupation force against the defenseless Palestinian people until the demise of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
At the end of this statement, we stress that what happened yesterday in Jerusalem is the opening of an American colonial settlement, not an embassy.
