ALF statement concerning Free Egyptian Party executive leadership statements

The statements made by one of the leaders of the executive bureau of the Free Egyptians Party, concerning ALF are misleading and up to the point of spreading and promoting lies (*). If these statements didn’t show chicanery and bad faith, it proves once more the ignorance of the political structure both domestically or regionally on the Arab level and of course on the international level.

And whether the executives of the Free Egyptians Party believes that their own party is an unknown party, it is an issue that remains up to them. Notwithstanding, it’s so said that the party media secretary is not aware that the Future Movement in Lebanon is the majority party and that it’s leader is the Prime Minister in his country, it is amazing also that they are not realizing that among the ALF members the Tunisian party “Afek Tunis” that two of its members are in the actual government and three as state ministers. As members also, three Moroccan parties which participated in the last government and are currently involved in the formation of the upcoming governmental coalition. That in addition to the Liberal Democratic Party of Sudan and TMM party from Mauritania, the National Liberal Party of Lebanon, the Congress Party of Egypt, the Free Thought Forum from Jordan and the Forum for Democracy from Palestine.

As for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, which cited in general in the statements, it is a respectable German institution that worked in Egypt for more than forty years consequently. It worked on education and training of cadres of the official political parties on political systems and general principles. Over these years of its work in Egypt, it carried out formally all its activities and with legitimate entities openly and transparently. On other hand the foundation has official offices in most of the Arab countries with democratic regimes.

Liberal International was also mentioned and qualified by the same politically irresponsible statements. This organisation is a large international organisation, working as umbrella gathering liberal parties in the world.

The ALF hopes that the Free Egyptians Party retrieves the values of liberalism to emphasis the democratic process that the party has begun in since founded, and to uphold the rule of law, respect of human rights in addition to upholding all freedom of opinion and expression values. ALF hopes that the party, so, can regain his role as a political actor in the Egyptian political scene on one hand and on the regional and international level, on the other hand.
